Eligibility and market review
We confirm your category is available in your area and what Google will require from you.
Local Services Ads can show your business at the top of Google for local searches and charge you for valid leads, not clicks. We help with eligibility, verification, setup, budgets, lead quality and reporting so you can focus on booking jobs. Contact us for pricing for your market.
Everything built and managed end-to-end so you can focus on running your business.

We set and watch your budget so the ad does not run dry mid-week or run past what you planned.
We rate poor leads in Google's feedback survey and track the credits Google applies, so you can see what you paid for.
A verified Google Business Profile is required for Local Services Ads, so we work on the profile and your review process alongside the ads.

Real reviews from local service companies we manage campaigns for.

Local Services Ads are pay-per-lead ads that appear at the top of Google Search and in Google Maps for eligible local service businesses. You pay for valid leads, such as phone calls, messages and bookings, not for clicks. Google explains the basics in its Local Services Help Center.
There are no keywords to manage. Google decides who sees your ad from the service categories, job types and service area you set, and from your Google Business Profile. That makes your setup and how quickly you answer leads the parts you can work on.
Local Services Ads are offered only for certain categories and areas. Start with Google’s list of eligible categories and countries. If your trade is on it, the next step is screening and verification.
What Google asks for depends on your category and state. It can include business registration, licenses, insurance and background checks, and you need a public, verified Google Business Profile. Our Google Business Profile management covers that side of the work. Google describes its checks on its screening and verification help pages and lists requirements for the United States. Some categories need extra checks under Google’s advanced verification policy.
Google says verification averages 3 to 4 weeks after you submit your documents. Plan for that wait before you expect leads.
Two changes matter if you are reading older advice about Local Services Ads.
The badges. In October 2025, Google replaced Google Guaranteed, Google Screened and License Verified by Google with one Google Verified badge, and the Google money-back guarantee ended. Google says the badge change does not affect how Local Services Ads rank. You can read Google’s own explanation on its Google Verified badge page and in its August 2025 announcement on the Google blog. If a guide still tells you to apply for a Google Guaranteed badge, it is out of date.
The move into Google Ads. Google is moving Local Services Ads into Google Ads as Performance Max campaigns with pay-per-lead goals. The first phase began in August 2026 for selected US home and storefront services, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, appliance repair, house cleaning, lawn care, roofing, pest control and moving. Other accounts follow in late 2026 and in 2027.
Some things stay the same. You still pay for valid leads, ads still show only on Google Search and Google Maps, and targeting stays keywordless. Some things change. Weekly budgets become daily averages, manual bidding and vertical-level target CPA go away, and your past performance reports do not carry over, although your lead history does. If your account has not moved yet, save your performance reports before it does. Google lists the details on its transition page.
Clicks Geek is a Google Premier Partner agency. For Local Services Ads, this is the work we do on your account:
There are limits. We do not control where Google ranks you against other advertisers or whether Google approves your verification, and we do not guarantee lead volume. We work on what you control: your profile, service areas, job types, budget, response speed and reviews. Our published Google Ads case studies show Google Ads results, not Local Services Ads results.
If your category is eligible and you want verification, budgets and lead review handled on your account, tell us your trade and service area and we will reply with next steps for Local Services Ads management.
Google assesses each lead when it arrives and does not charge for leads it finds invalid. It also reassesses charged leads over time and can apply credits automatically. In most cases credits reach your account balance within 30 days, and the original charge still shows on your invoice. Credits are not available for health care verticals, tax specialists or advertisers in EMEA. Google explains this on its automated lead credits help page, and describes how charges work on its leads and charges help page.
You can also rate any lead in the lead feedback survey in your account. If your account has already moved into Google Ads, the survey is on the Leads page there. That feedback helps Google send you better matches. Part of our monthly review is going through the leads that were a poor fit, rating them, and checking which ones were credited.
These are different tools. Local Services Ads charge per valid lead and have no keywords. Search campaigns charge per click and give you control over keywords, ad text and landing pages, and they work for services that Local Services Ads do not cover. Many local businesses run both. If you want both, our Google Ads management covers the Search side.
They fit eligible local service businesses that can answer the phone quickly during the hours they list. Many home service businesses are in this group, including HVAC companies, plumbers, electricians and roofing contractors.
They are not a fit if Google does not offer them in your category or area, or if you cannot take calls during the hours your ad runs. If that is your situation, we will tell you, and we will point you to Search campaigns instead.
There are two costs. Google charges for each valid lead, and the price varies by location, job type, lead type and bidding. Our pricing depends on your trade, market and scope, and we quote it per account.
