How do you look for new DUI clients?

Google Ads provides an excellent marketing opportunity for DUI lawyers who want to convert their website visitors into prospective clients.

Google Ads (formerly known as Adwords) is a form of pay-per-click (PPC) marketing that involves paying to have your ads appear at the top of Google’s search results pages (SERPs). With this advertising type, you don’t pay recurring monthly fees–you only pay when a potential client clicks on one of your ads to link through to visit your website.

Google Ads Partner Badge

With the right strategy, Google Ads allows a DUI lawyer to connect in real-time with prospective clients looking for their services. You only pay when people click on your ad, which can direct visitors to your site or landing page, where you can encourage them to set up a consultation or generate a call to visit your site.

Google Ads for Legal Marketing

PPC Ads Google Click

You run into Google Ads every day, whether you realize it or not. Have you ever searched for a product or service online and notice that every ad after the search suddenly came to feature that product or service or similar options? That’s hardly a coincidence.

Services like Google and Facebook continue to drive laser-targeted advertising by monitoring usage habits and using that data to attract advertisers. The more detailed the data, the more effectively advertisers can tailor their ad content and campaigns to target potential clients for their products and services.

Your Competitors are Using Google Ads

If you’re a DUI attorney in New York, you’ll be up against the competitors in the above screenshot whenever someone searches for a lawyer with your specialties. To keep up with the competition, you also need to invest in PPC marketing and focus on what sets you apart from other New York DUI attorneys.

Google Ads Take a Prominent Position in SERPs

When people perform a search, the first 3-4 listings are normally paid text ads that Google has placed (indicated by the term “Ad” in the upper left, alongside the site URL). If you search for “DUI Laywer in Knoxville, TN,” this is what you get:

Paid advertisements usually take at least 50% of the initial search results display, and the top three paid ads on the SERPs receive about 55% of the clicks.

The guys at Clicks Geek are SEM experts and some of the most knowledgeable marketers on the planet. They are obviously well studied and I often wonder from where and how long it took them to learn all this stuff. They’re leap years ahead of the competition and can make any industry profitable with their techniques, not just the software industry. They are legitimate and honest and I recommend him highly.

Is PPC Marketing Profitable for DUI Lawyers?

While conventional marketing is still valuable for DUI lawyers, you will want to establish an online presence to keep up with the stiff competition in the legal industry. Today, most prospective clients use search engines to find the right attorney for their needs. In the SERPs, an attorney’s services may appear in three main areas:

In commercial-oriented queries, paid ad results usually appear at the top, so users will most likely click on them. According to the Search Engine Journal, a 2020 Sistrix study of billions of searches found that 28.5% of users click on the first Google search result.

For this reason, search marketing via Google is one of the most profitable ways for DUI lawyers to get new clients. Here are a few other reasons a lawyer and law firm advertiser should use PPC marketing.

Signing up for a PPC ad account is simple. You don’t have to hire a PPC agency to set up and manage your campaign, but most DUI attorneys and lawyers lack the time, tools, and expertise required to maximize ROI.

Quick shout-out to Robert Salvatore over at Clicks Geek. I was on a call with Mark Luckenbaugh yesterday bitching about a Google Ads campaign that wasn't converting well, and he suggested I talk to Robert. I hit him up yesterday in the afternoon, and by 8:30AM this morning he'd done a complete audit of the campaign and laid out actionable steps for me to take to improve both CTR and costs as well as how I'm tracking, and the way I'm targeting keywords.  I can honestly say I learned more about Google Ads from his audit than I did from the last Google Ads course I took.

Quick tip of the hat to Ed and Robert on the PPC front. I sent them a PPC campaign a couple months back for one of my local clients. Theya re killing it both on CPC and CPL. I honestly hate managing PPC, and even though Rob would attest to me knowing more about Google Ads than him (actually not really he would never say that nor is it true), I prefer to not have to look at PPC campaigns whenever possible. So, just wanted to say that if you need a good PPC resource that's hand off I would check out these guys! Hope this helps someone that may be fed up with managing Google Ads or looking for a good source.

Ad Customization

Google Ads allow you to choose the particular search terms for which you want your ad to appear. That means you can target high-intent searches. When people enter queries on search engines, search engines can determine the search intent of people.

When it comes to PPC advertising, you’ll want to target commercial-intent keywords that show someone is ready to make phone calls, make a purchase, or fill out a quote request form. Google Ads can help you identify search terms that are most valuable to your law firm so you can leverage them to reach more clients.

We’re A Google Partner Agency

Finding The Right Google Ads Keywords

Whether you’re a DUI lawyer, personal injury lawyer, car accident lawyer, or in any other law practice, you need to identify keywords to target in your law firm marketing campaigns. Otherwise, your advertisement may not reach potential clients. Let’s explore some of the effective ways to generate a keyword list.

Using The SERPs

The SERP is perhaps the cheapest yet effective method to find target keywords. When you enter a search query, the SERP has several features that provide keyword ideas to get you started.

You can start by analyzing your competitors’ advertisements to learn what terms and phrases your competitors are using in their ads.

It’s worth noting that some advertisers use Google’s keyword insertion feature. This feature automatically fills their ads’ target keywords with an exact match of the searcher’s phrase. When researching match keywords, keep in mind that the advertisements you see could be an automatic phrase match of the terms you used in your search queries.

You also need to review the organic or natural (not paid) results. Make sure to note the various synonyms that you get from your queries.

You may also find valuable keyword ideas in Google’s search suggestions at the bottom of the results pages.

Using Keyword Tools

Several tools can help you identify a broad match of keywords for your law-firm-marketing campaigns. Google’s Keyword Planner is the number one and most affordable tool. You’ll get the tool for free if you have an ad campaign.

To get started, enter in the search bar a keyword for which you want to rank. The Keyword Planner will suggest a vast range of terms and data about search volume per month and average cost-per-click (CPC).

It’s not always advisable to depend on Google Keyword Planner alone. You might want to cross-check your data on various tools to make a more informed decision. If you can afford paid keyword tools, SEMRush.com, Spyfu.com, and Ahrefs.com are some of the best options.

Capitalize on Negative Keywords

When creating your target keywords list, it’s also important to include negative keywords, which you don’t want your business to rank for. Adding these keywords to your list helps you prevent your ad from showing up for specific queries since it will block unqualified leads.

How To Lower Your CPC

Cost-per-click (CPC) can be high for lawyer-related searches. With an average conversion rate of 10%, it can cost you several thousand dollars to get a single client.

However, you don’t have to spend a fortune on your Google campaigns if you understand how to lower your CPC. Quality is paramount for successful search engine optimization and PPC advertising. So, one way to lower your CPC is by having a high-quality score. Google’s Quality Score is an evaluation of your ad and related landing pages.

It’s a score value with a high of 10 that determines the prospective click-through-rate (CTR), landing page experience, and ad relevance. It would be best if you aimed at achieving a 6-8 score. Anything lower may hurt your Ads campaign performance and marketing budget.

Final Thoughts

Google Ads can be an extremely powerful platform for DUI attorneys and law firms to attract new clients. If you implement your campaign correctly, you can expect a significant increase in website traffic and qualified leads. If you manage these leads properly and convert them into clients, you’ll certainly get a positive ROI and steady growth of your law firm.

However, creating a successful Google campaign can be challenging. You will find many factors to consider, including key terms, landing page optimization, ad copy creation, and call-to-action. You also need to understand how to add your practice areas, phone number, and other important information into your ad campaigns.

You’ll waste money and time if you get anything wrong, so you may want to work with a professional in creating your PPC campaigns.

At Clicks Geek, we specialize in working with law firms to create optimized media advertising strategies using Google’s Ads tools. We would be happy to help you develop your campaign, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us today.
